CELI was created in 2021 to strengthen the English-Speaking Communities of Quebec.
A five-year project, CELI’s work includes a community grants and partnerships funding stream, timely research, professional development for practitioners working in English language literacy and essential skills, and employment and employability.
CELI will also host multi-stakeholder community forums in 2024, 2025, and 2026. Through these efforts, CELI aims to support and connect community-based service providers working in its target sectors across the English-Speaking Communities of Quebec (ESCQ).
With the financial support of the Government of Canada Office of Skills for Success, CELI champions community-based service providers in the field of English literacy and essential skills, employability, and employment. The projects selected this year will strengthen the capacity of English-speaking Quebec’s community sector, create long-lasting partnerships, and provide English-speaking Quebecers with opportunities to learn new skills, all of which allow members of our community to succeed and thrive in work and life. The five groups selected are:
- Atwater Library and Computer Centre
- Committee for Anglophone Social Action
- LaSalle Multicultural Resource Centre
- Literacy Unlimited
- YES Employment and Entrepreneurship.
